AUtumn/winter 26/27 | Tall Performance Raglans & Luxury Joggers | Pima Cotton Shirting

Problem

A US-based founder needed to launch an AW26 collection of Tall fit Luxury Performance collection in premium pima cotton, without in-house technical design capability.

The challenge was multifaceted:

Sourcing the right fabric weight

Engineering a raglan construction that balanced ease-of-movement with structured silhouette integrity, and ensuring that the casual jogger design wouldn't read as commodity.

Compounding this, production timelines were tight, and early samples showed construction inconsistencies—particularly in the raglan seam placement and jogger cuff stability.

Solution

Executed a complete technical design pipeline from fabric sourcing through production liaison. Conducted a structural audit of pima cotton weight options (280–350 GSM range) and settled on a 300 GSM heavyweight that provided the luxury hand-feel while maintaining breathability. For the raglans, mapped a custom raglan geometry that maximized the natural drape of pima cotton without sacrificing shoulder articulation. Engineered offset seam placement to eliminate the visual "bulk" that often accompanies structured raglans, using a split-needle overlock technique to maintain seam elasticity across the jersey-knit fabric.

For the joggers, developed a precision cuff construction using a stay-tape system that anchors the elastic at four critical points, preventing the common jogger issue of cuff roll or sagging at the ankle. Created a complete tech pack with grading for XS–XXL, including detailed construction callouts for each seam type (flatlock shoulders, coverstitch hem, stay-tape cuff). Served as direct liaison through first and second samples, coordinating fabric approvals and production adjustments with zero revision cycles on the final prototype.

Result

Delivered production-ready specs and approved samples on timeline. The raglan construction achieved the desired balance of ease and structure, with the offset seam placement eliminating the oversized/slouchy read that often compromises luxury positioning. The pima cotton shirting delivered consistent quality across all units, with the 300 GSM weight reading as premium without excessive bulk. The jogger cuff engineering eliminated fit complaints—a common pain point for founders launching casual luxury. TOTUS went into production with confidence, and the collection validated both the construction approach and the luxury market positioning.

Proof

Final production units passed 50-cycle stress tests at factory, validating the structural integrity of the asymmetric architecture.
