ORIM ATHLETICS
Scroll to walk through the design and pattern development behind ORIM's tiered football kit, and the athlete feedback that shaped it.
No Technical Infrastructure
A founder growing an independent school football program with no in-house technical capability. The goal was a tiered uniform framework spanning entry-level through to senior squads, differentiated by materials, construction detail and fit.
Feedback From Players And Coaches
Design direction was developed through collaborative review sessions with players and coaching staff. Feedback covered fit, ventilation, durability and branding — subjective preference as much as function, and treated as such.
Collar Comfort
The neckline was refined for comfort in motion — unrestrictive, no grabbing points, and shaped to sit cleanly at the shoulder junction. Neckline shape was one of the details players commented on directly across review rounds.
Shoulder And Panel Layout
Panelling and seam placement were reviewed to reduce bulk at the shoulder cap, where players reported pressure during arm movement. Adjustments were made to the pattern rather than layered on at sampling.
Mesh Panelling And Turf Debris
Players raised that turf debris collected in open mesh panelling during play. Panel placement and mesh choice were revised so the kit still breathed without trapping material — a functional fix that came straight out of the feedback session.
Reducing Bulk, Improving Durability
Construction and joining methods were reviewed to reduce bulk and improve durability, guided by player comments on comfort and fit rather than a fixed spec carried over from another program.
Colourways And Logo Placement
Colourways and logo placement were iterated with the program until the kit read the way the coaching staff wanted on the field, without interfering with fit or ventilation decisions already locked.
Patterns And Tech Packs
The engagement delivered developed patterns and tech packs for the tiered system — documentation the program can take to a manufacturer, plus an ongoing technical design relationship.
